You can’t marry anybody else but me.” And so they did! He didn’t ask her to marry him, he told her she was marrying him. That week they got her mother and went to town to get married at the court house. While Vida was getting her hair fixed and getting a new dress, her mother and future husband went to the downtown Tuscaloosa courthouse to get the marriage license and hire the Justice of the Peace to marry them.
